Beef Stroganoff With Rice Slow Cooker
09/17/2003
This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Make sure you lot do these 5 things, even so: 1. Use "Condensed Golden Mushroom" soup. The regular Cream of Mushroom doesn't have the larger pieces of mushrooms. ii. Substitute 1/4 cup beef broth for 1/4 h2o. 3. Use iv oz. sour cream instead of foam cheese. 4. Add i/2 t. pepper for a tiny little (but necessary) kick. 4. But before adding the sour foam, mix ane T. corn starch with 2 T. cold water, then add this mixture to stroganoff. This gives information technology the necessary extra thickness. And so, savour this FABULOUSLY succulent and simple to make dish!

Wow! For my husband and I to concur that a dish is worthy of 5 stars is very rare. This was a great condolement nutrient dinner, perfect after a very long twenty-four hours, so piece of cake to make. And I accept never made homemade stroganoff before! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14's review, who summed upwardly the 500+ reviews on here (thank you!). To practice what Jillybean did, and relieve others some time, here is what all these reviews say to practise: ane)Add some common salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. two) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water but keep worchestshire and cream cheese the same. 4)Add together ane/2 packet onion soup mix to mixture. five)Cook on LOW only for 5 hours. vi) Add together a dollop of sour cream also when calculation cream cheese. 7) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (about four-6 oz) i/2 hr before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles. I followed these suggestions, and now my husband, who is a big fan of Hamburger Helper, wants this instead and thinks I am the stroganoff goddess. =) A keeper for the recipe box! I will brand this often.

I think I've found my new favorite comfort food. This was really good. I used 2 pounds of circular steak (just don't like stew meat), 2 cans of gilded mushroom soup, added some onion soup mix (for flavor), and ane/two cup water (I like gravy). To help the cream cheese melt easier, cube and soften it before adding. I like the idea of using foam cheese rather than the traditional sour foam because if you're lucky plenty to accept leftvovers, it reheats nicer than sour cream. I can't look to make information technology again!
03/05/2010
Information technology really irks me when i come on here to get a good recipe with a adept rating and people's reviews are all well-nigh the changes they made. I dont have time to read everyones reviews with all the changes to make this recipe "improve'. Charge per unit the recipes as is and if you have modifications or modify then post a new recipe!!!!!!!

5 stars for a great piece of cake recipe for the busy on-the-go parent! Doubled the sauce!!! Added ane/two tsp of fresh minced garlic, 1/2 packet of dry Italian-manner salad dressing and one/two packet of Lipton's dry onion/ beefy/ mushroom soup mix to give the stroganoff actress season complexity. Subbed low sodium beef broth for the water, and low sodium worcestershire for the regular. Added sauteed mushrooms ane/2 hr prior to the finish and stirred in sour cream to taste prior to serving! Helpful hint: Check the intensity of your crockpot equally some are "hotter" than others and yous may not need to cook the stroganoff the full 8 hours as the recipe lists. Thank you Jessica - nifty recipe!
01/29/2002
This tastes really good, but I plant that because I floured and browned the meat (which naturally thickens the sauce) and added fresh mushrooms (which absorb a LOT of wet), I increased the water to a full cup and still would have been happy with a thinner sauce. I liked the season enough to give this some other try - this time no mushrooms and with a total soup can of water. I also recall I'll utilise traditional sour cream instead - the cream cheese tasted very expert, but I think the texture of the sour cream will suit my tastes ameliorate. That's the beauty of this recipe - it'due south a great place to take off & tinker to your preferences!

Thanks! Cheers! Give thanks Y'all! My husband is the pickiest eater there is and he loved this. Hamburger Helper Stroganoff has been my married man's favorite since he was a little male child. I hated making it only did for him, till last dark, I put my human foot down and told I wanted to endeavor this recipe. He hates mushroom and I did not really remember he would similar it. He ate a HUGE bowl at dinner, then pulled out the leftovers shortly earlier going to bed and ate Another HUGE BOWL. He told me he like this more than than his favorite stroganoff. I used some of the other suggestions. I keep the meat(1 lb.), worcestershire(1 tbls.), and cream cheese(4 oz) the same. I doubled the soup(2 cans) and water(1/2 cup).I omitted the onions (husband hates them) but I did add half a pack of the lipton onion soup mix. Thank you so much for this recipe. I am sure I will be making this for a LONG time.
11/09/2002
Awesome over egg noodles. Supervene upon the water with sherry and substitute 1 package onion soup mix for the onions. YUMMY!!!
11/25/2002
I am thrilled, thrilled, THRILLED to have found this recipe. My hubby loves when I brand stroganoff, just I hate all the work involved. Per the other reviewers' suggestions, I used sour cream, equally well as the onion soup bundle. Wonderful! I threw in a jar of mushrooms toward the end of cooking - I had a very happy hubby! Cheers for the Like shooting fish in a barrel and delicious recipe!
09/15/2006
I absolutely loved this recipe! It was soooo piece of cake, AND, much better than other stroganoff recipes that I have used (I've used one recipe that chosen for sour cream, cream cheese, and foam soup.........chock-full arteries!!!) I took the communication of some other reviews and I added a packet of dried onion soup mix. When I added the foam cheese at the end, I also threw in ii handfuls of fresh mushrooms. Information technology was the perfect touch on. I will be adding this recipe to my permanent collection!!
01/02/2011
I made this for the start time terminal night and followed the recommendations of Jillybean and others. I used: 2 pounds cubed sirloin steak 2 cans gold mushroom soup 1 large chopped onion two cloves garlic minced 1/two pound sliced mushrooms i tablespoon Worcestershire sauce ane teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup beef goop ane pack onion soup mix 4 ounces cream cheese, softened. iv ounces sour cream All simply cream cheese and sour cream went into the crockpot and cooked for half dozen hours, served over noodles and it was OMG Proficient! Thanks for sharing
01/27/2009
I am only giving this iv stars since I did take the advice of many reviewers and modified the recipe quite a fleck. Instead of using a slow cooker, I cooked this in a dutch oven on meridian of the stove and it turned out really good. I served it over egg noodles, simply my family likes it on rice better. I love the addition of the cream cheese instead of sour cream, likewise! Instead of buying exspensive stew meat, I bought a chuck roast and cut it up myself. ***Update: I fabricated this once again and didn't add the cream cheese due to not having whatever. It was still succulent. Probably not truly considered stroganoff, though. My family prefers it on rice, too.
x/26/2011
Jessica, thanks for posting this fantastic base recipe, I similar many others did non follow it to the letter, merely without your recipe wouldnt have tried information technology at all! I give this 5 stars considering your base recipe is the cornerstone of it all! I always read the reviews of whatever recipe I am going to try, and then make my own changes accordingly. I had a few pounds of cube steak that I wanted to employ up and make tender, and this fit the bill...I sliced some onions thick and layered them get-go, so I cutting up the cube steak, didnt brown or flour it at all....put in half a pack of bulky onion soup, tablespoon of Lea and perrins, cup of water, two cans of golden mushroom soup (nosotros like a thick gravy hither, lol) and near a heaping teaspoon of footing pepper....let that all simmer in the crock pot for virtually five hours...then added about 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms...let it cook on low some other 60 minutes...then added half a bar of depression fat cream cheese then 8oz of sour cream...served over broad egg noodles and it was a HUGE hitting in my household of three...made enough that we had information technology again last night and it tasted fifty-fifty better! Corking utilise for cube steak btw, a proficient cheap option...Thanks again Jessica, this will be a staple in my firm this winter!
03/03/2009
And so many reviewers said follow jillybean14'south suggestions - I finally institute her on folio 45. To help out, hither is what she suggests: (i) add table salt, pepper and garlic, (2)double the sauce but proceed the cream cheese and worchestershire the same, (3) utilise Golden Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hrs. on low (five) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to become an extra "tang", (6) add a boullion cube, (7) add a one-half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles (9) add together sauteed mushrooms, about 1/2 an hour before serving.
09/05/2002
Swell recipe! I did change it a little bit. I used a round steak and coated information technology with flour and browned information technology before I put information technology in the crock pot. I also added a tin of beefiness broth to the mix and used the whole brick of cream cheese. Turns out great every time!
06/26/2007
Husband's commencement words were..."This is awesome." This turned out great and was super like shooting fish in a barrel. Perfect for a cold winter evening or visitor! Nevertheless I did add a few things and made a few simple changes after looking at a couple of the other recipes. Here is what I did. 1 can of gilded mushroom soup and half can of foam of mushroom, whole bundle of fresh sliced mushrooms, three sliced green onions and half a chopped yellow onion. 1 can of beefiness broth instead of any water. I seasoned the cubed stew beef with seasoning table salt ( and if you cook it on low for vi-8 hours information technology does Not toughen up, ours was sooo tender! So save a few bucks and get the stew meat!). Cooked on low for vi hours and served over buttered noodles with parsley. I would actually add more than mushrooms next time. The last hour I put in 8 oz of low fatty sour cream and 3 heaping tablespoons of nonfat foam cheese. I then took 1 tbls of corn starch (y'all could utilise flour) and mixed it with milk to thicken the sauce. Information technology was pretty thick already so I would just add information technology if you like a thicker sauce. Putting the cream cheese in the last hour gave it enough of fourth dimension to combine and cook down so it was non mesomorphic. Perfection!!
04/16/2012
I made a lot of changes based on reviews. I apply following: ii lbs stew meat, 2 cans golden cream of mushroom, 1 med onion diced, 2 cloves garlic minced, 1 beef bullion, 2T Worcestershire. Sauce, 1 pkt onion soup mix, i/two c.-ish beefiness broth, sliced mushrooms, & 4 oz. cream cheese. Cook eight hours on depression and add foam cheese nigh 30-60 minutes before serving. I've made this dozens of times and I no longer measure and it always turns out smashing. Since at that place is only 2 of united states and I don't want left overs I employ 1 lb stew meat, 1 tin can golden mushroom soup in a smaller crockpot on low for v-6 hours and everything else the aforementioned and it'due south all the same practiced.
05/21/2012
Always on the lookout for sure-fire deadening cooker meals and this was great, so thanks Jessica and also JILLYBEAN14 and other reviewers. (Given that I followed Jilly'due south modifications.) Received compliments all effectually for this. Definitely a keeper to make once again, overnice comfort fare.
01/12/2011
My husband idea it to be a fleck bland as far as flavor goes, but I simply added some more Worcestershire sauce to the dish once it was done and information technology tasted a lot better, other than that I just used sour foam instead of cream cheese and this dish was super yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely make it again!
eleven/01/2005
Wow! Just delicious! We will for sure make this again and again. I did all the alterations recommended by other reviewers though. 2 lb stew meat, 2 cans soup, 1/2 cup beef broth instead of water, added table salt, pepper and garlic pulverisation, 1/two packet onion soup mix, sauteed mushrooms in butter and added at terminate and dollop of sour cream. Cooked on low v hrs. Information technology was to Die for! Nosotros served over egg noodles with a side of boiled potatoes with a butter/dill sauce. Its also great warmed upwardly the next day!
09/06/2010
And I take never made homemade stroganoff before! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14's review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on here (thank yous!). To do what Jillybean did, and save others some time, hither is what all these reviews say to do: 1)Add together some salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water but go along worchestshire and cream cheese the same. 4)Add 1/ii packet onion soup mix to mixture. five)Cook on Depression only for 5 hours. 6) Add a dollop of sour cream also when calculation cream cheese. vii) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (almost iv-6 oz) 1/ii hr before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles.
01/26/2014
I found this recipe v years ago and just now deciding I should add my two cents - I like to think I've perfected it, somewhat. For the more picky cook, it helps to brown your beef. No need to, just it definitely brings out more than flavor. Nosotros're two guys and then one pound of beef just doesn't cut it for wanting to have this for dinner for a few nights, so I sometimes double or triple the recipe, specially if we're having company. I toss in a scrap more extra worcestershire sauce, like virtually one tablespoon extra. I've spent quite a chip of time in Russia and can tell y'all this little recipe would (and HAS) satisfied a picky Russian... and those Russians know their stroganoff! ;-) As others have said, a cube of beefiness burgoo doesn't hurt but if you think it needs more seasoning, go for information technology! I always add a touch of Cajun seasoning to spice information technology upward a flake, only I have Cajun roots and then, that's just me. Finally, I ALWAYS add together mushrooms near the finish. Take an 8oz or more pack of infant bellas, slices em upwardly, toss them in a pan and sauté with some butter, then set aside. In the last hour or two of cooking, toss them in and stir. Seriously, you gotta do this. It adds the authentic stroganoff taste and texture and jacks up the recipe a bit if you're feeding a hungry family. Splendid recipe - this recipe is the reason I've become a dull cooker guy and I'd dear to meet the person who posted it and shake their easily or requite 'em a hug. It'southward just that proficient!!
12/01/2011
See JillyBean14's Review which I copied here: I read near all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To salvage everyone else some time, here's what they say to do (and what I did...and information technology came out great): (i) add together table salt, pepper, and garlic, (two) double the sauce but go along the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (three) employ Aureate Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to near 5-half-dozen hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour foam when you add together the foam cheese to get an extra "tang", (half dozen) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (ix) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, simply I trusted others and I think it helped. Cracking ho-hum-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and then just boiled the bag to reheat. It was great the 2nd time around! The only thing I did differently was skip the onion soupd mix - can't stand it. Whole family LOVED this recipe. Highly recommend it!!
11/12/2005
I cannot believe this is five stars. My married man and I did non similar this at all. I have been cooking since I was twelve and I am known by family and friends to be an awesome cook, then I was a piffling embarrassed when hubby asked me non to make this over again.
02/27/2007
I fabricated this using the exact recipe. Because of my work schedule mine ended upwardly cooking on low for about 10 hours. My only regret is that for some reason my onions never got soft. Next time I'll saute them a bit beginning. The ingredients were simple, and nosotros liked the finish result. We'll definately be making this again!
01/29/2003
Okay this is a good basic recipe. I double the recipe. Used half golden mushroom and half roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup. Added one package beefy onion soup mix. Also added some cooking sherry (i/4 cup). An hour or so before serving, added fresh sliced mushrooms (most 1.5 cups).
10/27/2011
I took some of the suggestions from other readers and added some extra mushrooms and more meat. I used the golden mushroom soup and also added a can of beefy mushroom soup and eliminated the proposition of onion soup. I added some pepper and garlic. I did non employ Cream Cheese as I don't care for the cream cheese flavour in casseroles - it simply seems to overpower everything else. I used about a cup of sour cream every bit I had a lot of sauce. If I were to make it over again, I'd probably not utilise the second can of soup every bit there was just so much sauce. That said, hubby and I enjoyed this a lot and I'll probably make it once more with a few adjustments to strive for that 5th. star.
02/01/2010
this is really skilful As LONG AS You MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES: (Jillybean14 read all the reviews and summarized the changes that needed to be made. These are her changes) two pounds cubed beef stew meat 2 cans golden mushroom soup 1/two cup chopped onion ane/ii package of dry out onion soup mix ane tablespoon worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup water 4 ounces cream cheese spoonful of sour cream Follow the directions listed on the recipe. Add together a bit of salt, pepper & garlic to the pot along with everything else. Stir in spoonful of sour foam at the same time you stir in cream cheese. my 4 twelvemonth old and 2 yr erstwhile couldn't get enough of this. I served it over wide-cut egg noodles. Information technology was done in exactly 5 hours on low. I will definitely make this again. recall - don't sub the golden mushroom soup. it has to be golden mushroom.
01/07/2015
Extremely banal, and the cream cheese left little chunks because of combining it with heat (didn't consider at the time).
xi/14/2006
I'thousand not sure what went incorrect, just mine burned to the bottom! I followed the directions exactly! Did anyone else have this problem????
01/18/2003
The premise of this recipe is fine simply it lacks seasoning. I added 1 TBL extra worstershire, 1/3 cup white wine, 1 TBL dijon mustard, .5 TSP dried dill, .75 TSP nutmeg, salt and pepper, i tin drained mushrooms. I likewise substituted light sour cream for cream cheese. It was excellent.
eleven/07/2010
Awesome. I similar elementary recipes with a lot of leftovers, so I read over some reviews and came up with this. 2lbs stew meat, 3 cans Golden Mushroom soup, 4oz cream cheese, 1/iv cup sour cream, 1tbs Worcestershire sauce, and instead of onions or water, I substituted in a tin of french onion soup. This also eliminated the onion soup mix. Pepper to sense of taste. I LITERALLY dropped everything in the crockpot on high and went to piece of work for 5 hours. Came dorsum later, prepared the noodles and spooned over the yummy mixture. Super easy, super yum.
03/05/2014
I tried this adding 8 oz. of mushrooms,a loving cup of red vino and two tbsp. of beef bullion. I seared the meat, browning it just not fully cooking it. Best stroganoff we've always had.
08/twenty/2005
Amazing, this is so absolutely wonderful, very like shooting fish in a barrel. The cream cheese was lumpy though, adjacent fourth dimension I will have out some sauce and whisk the cream cheese into that so add together to the mixture. I as well added 2tbsp of sour cream, sauteed mushrooms, salt pepper, garlic and boullion. I would double the recipe if yous are making this for iv or more adults. Thanks for a great recipe.
10/20/2011
My husband said this is the best stroganoff he has e'er had. I used footing meat instead of the cube meat (only because my kids volition eat the ground meat). I also could non find gilded mushroom soup so I used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead. And I used beef goop in place of the water. The taste was wonderful and I will be making this version from now on.
04/22/2009
I read virtually all of the reviews and made modifications based on them; and here they are (and what I did...and information technology came out absolutely delicious!): (i) add together common salt, pepper, and 3 cloves minced garlic, (2) double the soup (three) use Aureate Mushroom, NOT cream of mushroom! (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to nigh five-6 hours on low, (5) use ii oz cream cheese and a dollop sour cream (6) add a bullion cube, (vii) add a one-half package of onion soup mix (viii) add together sautéed mushrooms about ane/ii an hr before serving. Mine came out rather thin, so it might assistance if you coat the meat in flour before cooking information technology. Oh, and I used Venison instead of beefiness, and none of my family could tell. I know this isn't truthful to the original recipe, but I trusted the other reviews and I'm glad I did! five stars to the modified recipie, only 3 to this basic (and rather bland) recipie! (Special thank you to Jillybean14 and MomSavedbyGrace!)
07/15/2005
I love stroganoff only was looking for a new recipe for it. This recipe was excellent!!! I used 2 cans of soup and also added 1/2 pkg. of onion soup mix and 1 tin can of beefiness broth instead of water. The beefiness was and so tender. I can't await to get in over again! Thanks Jessica!
11/24/2009
E'er looking for something new to brand crusade the simpler it is the better my married man likes it. We both enjoyed this meal, I had a package of beef ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I well-nigh forget the cream cheese and considering it wasn't thick at that point, I added most a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, then I remembered the foam chesse. I like mushrooms, he doesn't so I sauteed them and put them on my portion only. Both of us were happy! I'll be adding this to my recipes. Thanks for sharing!
09/07/2009
And so Proficient!! Cooked overnight on low in the crock pot. I left information technology on warm until dinner fourth dimension. Doubled the recipe since I only had a two 1/two lb roast instead of the stew meat. Just, really good anyways.
10/14/2002
This is a expert, easy recipe, although I do think that it'southward missing something. It needs some spices to jazz information technology upwards. I will make it again, merely the next time I will add together oregano and perhaps some flour to thicken the gravy. I'll also double the recipe, since it made enough for my husband and I to share for dinner with a little left over for his dejeuner the adjacent solar day. I used sour cream instead of cream cheese. Rather than calculation the foam to the crock pot, I served it on the side then we could add every bit much or as piffling equally we wanted. I institute that information technology was simply as good without. I served this over egg noodles which I adopt (more hearty). My husband gave this a 7 on a scale of 1-10.
06/09/2011
I followed the first reviewer's suggestions. They were great. Added pepper and 3 cloves garlic. Doubled the soup and h2o. Practice non utilize Cream of Mushroom. Reduced the cooking time to about 6 hours on low and 1/2 hr on high. Added a "dollup" of sour cream when I added the cream cheese. Added a beefiness bullion cube. Added a half packet of onion soup mix. Added 8 oz package of sauteed mushrooms 1/two hour before serving. Served over egg noodles. Absolutely loved it! The beef was and so tender and the sauce was tasty! I likewise served it with bread to soak up the extra sauce. I froze the leftovers.
03/25/2002
WOW!! A existent keeper! I added canned mushrooms, table salt and pepper. At the end I added the cream cheese (3 oz) first and then added about a one/4 loving cup of sour cream. I retrieve the philharmonic of the foam cheese and sour cream is perfect.
10/02/2006
Made this for the first time for visitor, and it was a hit! I used 2lbs. lesser round steak cut into cubes, 2 cans gilt mush soup, i/2 package dry onion soup mix, and sauted 6 oz sliced fresh mushrooms, and poured information technology in pot with juices, and a little xtra cream cheese since I used 2 cans soup. Followed recipe for the residuum. Served over buttered noodles with a side of greenish peas, and staff of life for dipping up the delicious gravy! Can't become incorrect with this winner...
04/22/2011
Very skilful, substituted beef broth for water, added some granulated garlic, and substituted sour cream for cream cheese.Served over egg noodles.
04/ten/2010
this recipe is perfect the way it is. to everyone that feels the need to rate it based on changes that they have fabricated personally, why don't you submit your own recipe and charge per unit this one for what it is? how insulting. and, lastly, thank you, jessica! our family (of vi) all beloved this recipe exactly similar you wrote it!
08/09/2003
This recipe was very expert. I made just equally it was written. Adjacent fourth dimension I volition utilize sour cream instead of cream cheese and I will endeavour white wine in place of the water.
02/05/2014
I don't ordinarily care for beefiness stroganoff; however, I made this last night (with the recommendations from billyjean14)and loved it. I am reposting the recommendations from billyjean14 that I followed: I read almost all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To save everyone else some time, hither's what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out great): (ane) add table salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce simply go on the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (three) apply Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (iv) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to nigh 5-half-dozen hours on depression, (v) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (half-dozen) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms well-nigh 1/2 an hour before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted others and I call back it helped. Great slow-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Repast and then simply boiled the handbag to reheat. It was great the 2d time around!
09/05/2014
I made this recipe equally written in the kickoff and though it very bland. Tried to spice it up with garlic powder, onion pulverisation and pepper, notwithstanding non very flavorful, although we did similar information technology. Pitiful, simply I accept to requite information technology but 3 stars.
12/28/2014
I don't think I volition ever make beef stroganoff with sour cream again. This was so succulent and both me, my fiance and all-time friend said it was astonishing! I did brand a couple of adjustments but pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used 2lbs of meat, ii cans of the golden mushroom soup and added some chicken bullion pulverization, garlic salt, steak firm seasoning and some pepper. I didn't measure 1/two cup of onion; instead I just used half of a large yellow onion and finally added a 3rd of a 16oz bundle chopped mushrooms. Right earlier I added the foam cheese I sauted the remainder of the mushrooms and added to the crock pot. So added the 4oz of foam cheese. I took out a large corporeality (most half or a niggling more) of the liquid in the crockpot and boiled information technology in a sauce pan, adding a teeny bit of butter (less so a tbsp) and some corn starch until information technology thickened up a bit and poured it dorsum into the crockpot, turned off the rut and allow sit for near 10 minutes to continue thickening. Served over egg noodles and was astonishing! I am making some tonight and am going to serve it with some grilled asparagus.
09/04/2003
I agree with the previous reviewer: this dish has little taste. The recipe is sorely lacking in seasoning and creating flavor depth. The one thing I did like was how tender the meat came out through the slow cooking procedure. Seasonings are actually needed, such as salt and pepper, garlic, beef burgoo and/or broth, possibly even a touch of tomato paste. I also think that browning the meat and onions (as well as mushrooms) would result in a much fuller flavor, so I'll do that side by side fourth dimension. And, the cream cheese just does not piece of work in stroganoff – sour cream would much improve and authenticate this dish. Although I wasn't impressed, it'southward definitely a dish I can tinker with. : ) Folks - see "Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff" on this site. That recipe looks MUCH ameliorate.
09/28/2010
OK this is an crawly base recipe. As I was reading the other reviews and preparing it, I did brand some suggested adjustments. My family asked for this all the time. (one) add table salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the foam cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) use Golden Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about five-6 hours on depression, (five) add a "dollup" of sour cream when y'all add the foam cheese to get an actress "tang", (6) add a beef bullion cube, (7) add together a one-half packet of onion soup mix, (eight) serve over egg noodles, (9) add together sauteed mushrooms about i/2 an hour before serving.
07/28/2011
This was really actually good! I doubled the sauce but left the worcestershire and cream cheese the same. Had information technology 2 nights in a row and it was succulent.
12/07/2011
Doubled, and too added ane/2 cup red wine, LOTS of pepper, and fresh garlic. Y U M M Y!!!
09/06/2011
This is my to the lowest degree favorite Stroganoff recipe that I have made. I adopt regular cream of mushroom soup over the golden mushroom soup in this recipe. I would definitely recommend doubling the sauce mixture as the recipe equally written didn't make enough for iv servings.
09/xxx/2005
I made a double batch of this the starting time fourth dimension. I am expecting our commencement baby, and so I wanted to put some meals in the freezer. I split it and froze it in two separate foodsaver bags to make reheating in boiling water easy. Nosotros had it terminal night. It'south Fabled. Since I made a double batch, I took some suggestions from previous reviewers. I added a package of onion soup mix, some garlic and two jars of mushrooms. I also browned the meat before flinging information technology in the tiresome cooker. I cooked information technology on depression for 8 hours. Information technology reheats beautifully. We weren't sure about the cream cheese, but it really is quite good! Attempt this one with no reservations. Will make over and over over again (I'chiliad going to make a lot since I have a huge dull cooker.)
02/01/2011
I seasoned my beef prior to putting in the dull cooker with paprika, garlic powder and s&p. I also added a beef burgoo cube for extra season. Next fourth dimension may add the onion soup mix to encounter how it tastes. Added sauteed mushrooms about 45 minutes before it was finished. Overall it was really yummy. My only complaint is that meat was a piddling tough though (cooked viii hours on low).

Served this for dinner final dark. My whole crew..fifty-fifty my picky daughter loved it..yay!! I had some left over grilled steak that I used, rather than the stew meat. I didn't have golden mushroom soup, then I used reg. mushroom soup. I added a package of french onion soup mix, garlic, basil & paprika. I used beef broth, rather than water. I cooked on low for iv hours. I didn't encounter you lot weren't supposed to add the cream cheese until the end, just information technology still turned out great. I served over homestyle noodles & topped with fresh basil. Will definitely brand again. Thank you for sharing!

I jazzed this recipe up, following the advice of some others. First, I coated the beef with the flour, salt, and pepper and browned it. I added beef broth instead of water; I eliminated the onion and used a packet of onion soup mix instead; I also added one Tbs. of tomato plant paste and 1 Tbs. of horseradish. I placed fresh thyme and sage while it was cooking, but removed them when I added 2 oz. of onion and chive foam cheese and two oz. sour cream.

Great! Extremely easy - in that location is nothing to this, I kept on staring at the recipe to see what I was forgetting to practise/add to the pot only didn't observe anything. Sometimes I think we forget that elementary make-up leads to severely simple tastes extroadinaire! Perfect consistency and perfectly delicious! I through in some carrots and added a piffling cumin to the tiresome cooker then served with some egg noodles that I coated with butter and table salt. Next time I might throw in some potatoes into the slow cooker with the stroganoff for more of a stew like all-in-one meal. Annotation I use egg noodles b/c my husband prefers noodles to rice however, I think this would exist awesome over rice. Delicioso!
10/sixteen/2009
This was First-class!!! I doubled the sauce, added mushrooms, garlic and more worch. Had with egg noodles. I'm starting to try to swallow healthier... so I prob won't make this too much merely this will be one of my spoiled recipes.
01/17/2004
Turned out great...As per prior proposition, I substitued beef broth for the water in the original recipe. I also substituted the golden mushroom for Campbells Condensed Mushroom with Garlic for a little extra kick. I browned the meat get-go for about five min., so cooked on high in crockpot for about five hours. Cheers for the recipe!

Succulent & Like shooting fish in a barrel TO MAKE! My adjustments: i 1/2# Round Steak, 24 oz can Cream of Mushroom Soup, Onion (sm/med), 1 T Worcestershire Sauce, 1/2 c water + ane beef bouillion cube, Pkt of Onion Soup Mix, S & P + garlic salt. ADDED ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TO CROCK POT ON Low FOR 5 1/2 HOURS. THEN ADDED: eight oz tin can Mushrooms, 1/2 brick of Cream Cheese, 4 (tablespoon size) dollops of Sour Cream. COOKED Some other i/two HOUR. Served over Egg Noodles.
04/22/2011
Fabricated this for my family coming over for dinner. Had no Golden Mushroom so just used the regular Foam of Mushroom soup and it was withal great. Anybody gobbled it downward. Served with homemade wide noodles and garnished with a little sour cream and parsley. I wonder if the Golden Mushroom soup would take made that much of a deviation.
01/18/2014
I never apply my tiresome cooker considering I feel like I'k cheating in the kitchen, haha ha. (dumb huh?) I followed MomSavedbyGraces changes and loved information technology. Adjacent I volition try the tiresome cooker pepper steak.
07/27/2010
i made the original recipe and wasnt crazy over it, thought it was bland, and then i tweaked iti used two cans of condensed onion soup since i dont like mushrooms in the offset place, only i still added the chopped onion since i thought information technology added a chip of freshness to it. Too used half sour cream half cream cheese, to get it out of my fridge, and added some garlic, black pepper and just a few drops of hot sauce, and put it over some white rice. not a traditional stroganoff, but information technology tasted nice, and since im never dwelling house its nice to have something you can dump in and leave for a few hours.
12/22/2010
So good, I took everybody's suggestions and used half cream cheese half sour cream and added a whole pack of onion soup mix. so adept the husband ate two huge bowls of it!
03/16/2014
This recipe was a hit with my zoo coiffure this night for supper!! I didn't use fresh onions I adjusted the recipe for 10 servings which made the amount of onions 1 and ane/iv cups of onion...and I accept a girl staying at home right at present that is breastfeeding sooo I made a small adjustment I substituted one packet of lipton bulky onion soup mix. and just every bit I was adding the cream cheese I added some freshly cooked wide egg noodles poured them correct in the crock pot and stirred them in dash of salt and a nuance of garlic powder and the kids and adults alike loved this...from my grandbaby who is 2 and my dad who is 66 cheers and so much!!
10/09/2006
Easy and delicious. I added Lipton Onion Soup as suggested by others instead of an onion and volition definitely make this once again. It would be skilful over mashed potatoes too!
03/15/2010
This is one of my favourite recipes. The husband loves it and it'southward and then nice to come home to dinner already made when I walk in the door, just cook some egg noodles and information technology'south on the table. I throw this together at night and put the whole crock pot in the fridge and just plug it in on my way out the door in the morning.I commonly make it with chicken instead of beef, add mushrooms and use herb and garlic flavoured cream cheese.
04/04/2011
I've fabricated this a couple times now and each time theirs never whatsoever leftovers! The recipe is Bully As IS. Don't worry if you don't take any gilt mushroom soup because the only difference is the added mushrooms. So if you like mushrooms in yours simply add some towards the finish, unless y'all use fresh ones, so you lot can put them in in the get-go. The just thing I changed was to add together garlic salt. We love salty food and I cook with garlic in just about everything! Thanks for a bang-up easy comfort nutrient!
08/20/2013
This recipe as is its bland and overcooked. If you have to add xv things to make information technology edible then this recipe should never have gotten the rating it has. Save your food and make something else.
01/16/2011
Yummy! I doubled the original recipe and added a tin can of mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic, crushed red pepper, and a large dollop of sour cream. Served over egg noodles. Hubby an I LOVED information technology! information technology was very piece of cake and smelled peachy cooking on a chilly winter solar day, i will be making this again.
02/17/2015
Tried this twice... Once every bit written and once again with modifications. As written, information technology'south a good basic recipe. With additions that I made, it'southward outstanding. Add one/2 pkt onion soup mix, 1/four cup red wine and a adept sprinkle of garlic pulverization. Cooked ane lb frozen venison steaks on high for 4 hours. Shredded the meat and added the foam cheese. Dynamite! Couldn't stop licking the spoon :)
x/30/2011
This recipe is great as is! The only other thing I added was pepper. Yous guys are nuts to add onion soup mix to this when there is already 700 milligrams of sodium per serving. Plenty of flavor without information technology.
07/17/2011
The original recipe seemed a bit plain so I added sauteed mushrooms, extra onions, and some garlic. This probably helped a piffling. I enjoyed the sauce a lot. The meat wasn't as tender as I would have thought (cooked five hours on high), so next time I think I'll use basis beef...
03/04/2010
one word...Astonishing!! I followed JILLYBEAN14's review exactly...the but thing i will change next time is to not add actress salt.
eleven/06/2012
Yummy! I made this with no changes except I got in a bustle and put the cream cheese in at the start fourth dimension instead of at the end. It all the same worked out! And thanks to the Fizz folks that assured me it would be fine despite my error.
02/23/2010
Loved it. I do add together a little Burgundy Wine to give it an authentic Stroganoff flavor. I also use half cream cheese and half sour foam.
02/10/2003
This recipe was fantastic! I doubled the recipe for my large, hungry family and there was just enough left over for my husband to take to piece of work the next 24-hour interval for lunch. I made a few changes based on other users comments. I added one/4 cup cooking sherry & a pkg of onion soup mix and the consequence was very flavorful. I will definately be making this again at the request of my family.
02/25/2014
We ALL loved this!
10/12/2008
I rated this recipe only 3 stars considering this recipe had to be adjusted to JELLYBEAN14 recommendations to meet the the 5 star quality. With JELLYBEAN14 modifications the Beef Stroganoff was five stars "The BEST!". Here are JELLYBEAN14 recommendations & Thanks over again ;-) (1) add table salt, pepper, and garlic, (ii) double the sauce merely keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (iii) use Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to nearly v-6 hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the foam cheese to go an extra "tang", (half dozen) add together a bullion cube, (seven) add together a half packet of onion soup mix, (eight) serve over egg noodles, (nine) add together sauteed mushrooms about 1/ii an hour before serving.
xi/27/2011
This was a wow for us, specially with such simple ingrediants. I ever make as-is the first time; I might add some water chestnuts adjacent fourth dimension effectually just for some texture dissimilarity. Only it is succulent and simple just as-written!
eleven/10/2014
We liked this a lot. Took the advice of others and used golden mushroom soup and added beef flavoring and other seasonings!
02/25/2014
So SO adept! My husband absolutely loved it, too. A huge winner that will be in regular rotation. I did use JILLYBEAN14's suggestions, notwithstanding, so I really can't comment on the recipe on top. The only matter that I could think of to brand this improve is to double the recipe and so at that place are plenty of leftovers! :)
02/25/2014
I followed exactly and I thought it was just okay. Looked bully, smelled great...tasted okay.
12/thirty/2009
I made this earlier and thought information technology was bland. So this fourth dimension I followed other reviewers and put anybody's review together and created the best stroganoff ever! I used two cans mushroom soup fresh mushrooms 1/2 cup sour cream 1/2 cup cream cheese i cup water with beefiness bouillon cube ane tsp thyme ane tsp parsley one Tb garlic powder ane/2 TB salt & 1 packet dried onion soup mix. and we served it over egg noodles. We all loved it! So thank you for the good base recipe and thank yous to the other reviewers!
x/16/2011
Read numerous reviews and took their suggestions and this was really, really good. I will really use 16 oz. mushrooms (read reviews) side by side time as that was my favorite office. I could eat the sauce with but mushrooms and be content but my husband would miss the beefiness. Thanks for the recipe!
07/12/2007
This stroganoff was excellent! I have tips to cut the time way down in making this. 1st, read Jillybean's & momsavedbygrace's reveiws on what to practice different with ingredients. In add-on to the above changes, I did the post-obit with mine: one) used TENDERIZED Circular STEAK instead of stew meat. THIS IS And then Of import FOLKS!! You can melt stew meat until the cows come abode & it volition rarely go actually tender. My mom buys pre-tenderized circular steak and uses it in stews and similar dishes; it e'er turns out fantastic. Just cube the meat yourself in v minutes & you'll shave hours off the cook fourth dimension. 2)I added onion & garlic powder, salt & pepper three) Added about a TBSPN of beef granuals 4) I viii oz package of pre-sliced mushrooms, sauteed in cooking spray & 1 TBSPN or and so of Olivio. Don't sautee mushrooms until they were soggy; exit a little texture and bite to them equally the soup mushrooms tend to disappear. 5) Added one very generous dallop of fat free sour cream (employ Breakstones; yous'll never miss the fat). I accept a new KitchenAid wearisome cooker which might be a niggling more efficient than most simply I think the meat is the central to less cook time. I cooked this for an hour & 15min on high, then two hours on slightly college than low. It was perfect in 3 hours, 20 minutes (probably was done sooner simply I wasn't dwelling to cheque it). Tossed in the mushrooms right before serving as well as cream cheese and sour foam; no further cooking needed once that dissovles. Fabled!
03/07/2011
I prepared this recipe exactly every bit written - only fair to do information technology this fashion if I'm going to charge per unit it. When I think of stroganoff I think of a creamy sauce with a sour cream flavour and this recipe was not fifty-fifty a little bit flossy creamy but more gravy similar. The golden mushroom soup most gives it a bit of a seize with teeth/tartness that I didn't care for at all - personal preference. The recipe calls for 8 hours on low, which I did, but this was way too long as the gravy like sauce and meat were overcooked and slighly burned. This is non a recipe I will try again.
04/12/2003
This is a corking recipe!!!! Information technology is super like shooting fish in a barrel and tastes fabulous! I would only count on ii servings. . . non 4!
01/17/2012
I was excited to try this especially with such high ratings. I guess we are out of the norm here. My DH and I both concur that this merely wasn't that expert. Maybe it's because I don't usually cook with canned cream soups. This is basically meat and soup. I will stick with my old standby recipe starting with a roux. Lamentable.
12/23/2002
Very delicious and easy to prepare. I used strips of steak and I took the advice of others and used low-fat cream of mushroom soup and substituted cooking sherry for the h2o. So two hours earlier serving, I stirred in fresh mushrooms. I used the light cream cheese to stir in before serving, then served lite sour foam on the table to be used every bit desired. My stroganoff was served over a bed of fluffy white rice and made for a cute, succulent dinner. I highly recommend.
01/23/2011
My hubby and I really liked this recipe. I took some of the advice of others but non all... I basically doubled the meat, the golden mushroom soup, the h2o and worcestershire sauce. Well-nigh an hour earlier it was done, I added a bundle of sliced fresh mushrooms to the crockpot. I kept the cream cheese the same (4 oz) and added four oz of sour foam. Information technology produced a lot of liquid then next time I may even use 3 lbs of meat.
eleven/xv/2011
Delicious! I made with one lb. of beef, 2 cans of aureate mushroom soup, 2 cloves of garlic, a whole onion and about one/2 packet of Lipton onion soup, 1 TBS. worcestershire sauce, four ounces of foam cheese and 1/4 c. beef boullion plus a couple T. h2o.

Sour cream much better than cream cheese,, very dry
06/09/2008
Coming from a German-Russian family beef stroganoff has been a staple for as long as I can call up. I have a couple timeless recipes that are amend- but more than time consuming. I will hang on to this when I am looking for something quick- which is pretty often. Information technology came out great with all of the changes that were suggested in previous reviews- thank you JILLYBEAN14 for putting them all together. It saved a lot of time. The only change I made was to add one can of Gilt Mushroom and on of Foam of Mushroom when doubling the sauce. Serve with bootleg egg noodles if you lot accept them available... so much amend than store bought!
03/05/2011
this was the all-time recipes for stroganoff my hubby and I always had. First I sub. 1/4 cup of beef broth for the 1/iv loving cup h2o then..I added some fresh mushrooms nearly 1 hour before cookin was finished and used sour cream instead of the cream cheese just earlier serving. and added 1/ii tsp pepper for boot just earlier adding the sour foam I added 1 tbsp of corn starch mixed w/ 2tsp of water for thickness. It was wonderful
01/17/2005
OK, I alterd this recipe a fiddling after reading several reviews and information technology was Awesome! I used i lb of lean beefiness stew meat, two cans aureate mushroom soup, 1 unabridged tin can of beef broth, i small can of sliced mushrooms, 1/2 onion and ane TBSN of Worcheshire. I put it in the crock pot on high for 1 hour and then turned it down for 4-v more. I stirred in ane/2 C of sour cream at the finish and information technology was amazing served over egg noodles. Effort IT - YOU Volition LOVE Information technology!
03/17/2010
We love this and have made it several times. First time I fabricated it I used foam cheese, 2nd time - a combination of cream cheese and sour foam. While the cream cheese is fine, I think the tartness of the sour cream is far better. I do double the meat and quadruple the sauce because it tastes so great on those noodles and leftovers are wonderful.
